Artist's Description
Many old farm houses dot the land around the Appalachian Mountains, which sparked my imagination for the setting of this winter painting. I choose mainly neutral tones of various whites and grays to explore the subtle contrast of their relationships, while using the red barn, cardinals, and old farm implement to add a striking punch of color to the image. As I applied the paint, I got lost in how quiet and cozy a place like this might be on a gray winter day.
